In this guide I will explain how to (hopefully) avoid the many errors from WinScp on formware 2.2.1 like 'Connection Timed Out'
Being able to transfer file to your device using SSH can be usefull to many things such as installing custom themes and less legal stuff.
You will need:
- A jailbroken iPhone
- WinScp
- An iPod USB cable
- OpenSSH from Cydia
- ToggleSSH from Cydia
First of all download and install WinScp here: http://winscp.net/eng/index.php
Now open Cydia and search for "OpenSSH" without the quotes, install it if you haven't done it already.
Now in Cydia search for "ToggleSSH" and install it, it may be able to help later.
Now that you have installed botch OpenSSH and ToggleSSH move on to the next step.
Go to Options and your wifi connection and find your IP-adress.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Connect your iPhone to your local computer with your USB cable.
Abort the iPhone sync.
Fire up WinScp and enter the following:
Hostname: Your IP-adress
Username: root
Password: alpine
Enter it excactly like above.
Now you should be able to log in!
If it didin't work for you, control that you have entered all information correctly.
If it still doesn't work use ToggleSSH to toggle SSH off and on again, if it still doesn't work reinstall OpenSSH.
I hope that this was helpfull. If you have a problem feel free to PM me or comment here.
