Can we start a topic on religion here?
I just want to find out what religion everyone is.
I am an antheist and have been one for about a year or two.. I was agnostic as I have never been to church and I wasn't really sure which way to go, but i eventually decided to go the atheist route.
Since then I have read a number of books on atheism specifically books written by Richard Dawkins (awesome author and lecturer, you can look him up on youtube if u want).. This really secured my belief that there isn't a god and that religion is just something for people to believe in and to turn to..
I also think that people who don't like atheism/atheists have no security in their own religion..
So lets have a discussion here..

This thread could end up in total flamming, which I don't want...

You can't say if there is a God, or if there isn't one. I am Catholic, but not a very believing one.. I don't go to church every sunday, just when I'm in Poland. And I do believe that Big Bang happened, and that we come from the apes. But my question to you is: How did the universe start? There had to be someting.. But then, if God started it all, where did he come from?
I believe that God started big bang, and let it all go by it's own road without deciding much.

Actually I can say if there is a god or if there isn't one, but it will just be my opinion. Well if everyone is mature enough, this thread won't end up in flaming.
Well to answer your question about how the universe started, no one knows. I believe in the big bang theory but I do not believe it was god who started the big bang. I believe it was nature taking its course.. I don't know how or why..
Why are sooo many scientists atheists, because they are smart.. sorry if what i just stated offends anyone but its true.. How did god just suddenly gain control over everything in the universe, it is ridiculously far-fetched..
No one has ever seen god, although some claim they have, they haven't got any solid evidence.. There is no solid proof that god exists and until there is, I am an atheist.

I will not take part in this discussion. But I will comment on your statement Moxxy.

Think of brain surgeons, they've oparated thousands of brains, but never seen one thought, even though we know they exist.

Ok but they have proven that thoughts exist, have they not? There is no evidence what-so-ever that proves god exists..

Then what about Jesus? There are evidence that he was real..
But I heard that some scientist made a time machine, and was back in that time, and he told the true that Jesus was swearing, etc. like saying: "????, shit, ?????" or something like that (dunno exact words)..
So Jesus either was crazy who thought he was son og God, or else he really was son of God. :P

Yes Jesus did exist as a person, BUT there is absolutely no evidence that he is a higher being..

Haha, no, I don't believe in god, I myself believe that nature took it's course without help from any higher powers.

I was wrong about this thread, and I'm glad it didn't turn out to be a flame-thread (Also that my grandmother haven't got internet so she could see it, as she is very believing..)
Just post what you believe in.. Great idea you had there Moxxy :)

Hm. I might take part in this anyways, the "religion" i relate the most to is Satanism. The belief of the individual. I do not believe in everything, but something.
Also, please do not think that satanists are wierd people lurking around and killing christians.

When I think of satanists I think of negative people, who love to listen to iron maiden, maybe some very heavy metal, and not friendly at all..
From what I know you're very friendly, and I listen to heavy-metal myself, so I don't think it's "Satan music" as some people call it ^^

Haha, yeah, alot of people think of satanist, emos, goths, etc as negative people, but they are some of the coolest people I've met, ever!
Also, I've learned not to judge people because of clothes, music or other meaningless things.
And I listen to everything from Mozart to Disturbed xD
And you're nice to :3
