Default [Guide] How to make a picture get glam-look

How to make a picture get glam-look

    Requirements:
    - Adobe Photoshop (I use CS3. Please do not pirate Adobe's products)
    - General knowledge in how to use the tools in Adobe Photoshop

    Difficulty:
    -Novice

    Explanations:
    - If I use singlequotes ( ' ) then it is to mark a tool.

Just thought I should stop by to give you a little hint on how to make a picture more model-ish.

Let's say you have a picture of a girl, just a regular girl, not a model.
It has to be one layer, not several, as in a PSD. If you want to do this to a whole Signature or whatever, just make a new layer and Apply Image.

So here is the trick: Duplicate the layer (drag the layer onto the New Layer button at the Layers-palette). Go to Filter -> Blur -> Gaussian Blur, and set the radius to 5 to 10, depends on how much glam you want it to look. Then set the new layer (which is blurred out) to Overlay, and: Thats it.

Here is the result: The only thing I have done to the Original picture, is to add the Gaussian blur and set it to overlay. The whole process took about 1-2 minutes.

    Original:

    With 5 in radius:

    With 10 in radius:

Ahh. Gaussian blur. ;-) Always wondered what gave pictures that effect. Thanks.
