Introduction:
This is a follow-up to my last iPhone guide "How To Bookmark A Website To Your Springboard". Anyways I write this because I know the icon you get from the last time is really ugly, not like the rest of the applications. So in this guide I will teach you how to change that. Note that only webmasters can do this as it contains modifying the HTML code of the webpage, so if you're not an administrator of a website you would waste your time reading this, if you happen to be an administrator read on.
The Icon:
First of all you will of course need the icon for the Springboard, it will not automaticly show up. The icon should be 57*57pixels for the best possible end result. The icon may be of the following types PNG, JPEG or GIF. And don't worry about the nice transparent part at the top of the icons, the iPhone fixes that itself.
Here is a icon template you may use for your icon: Eplebit.no - Template.
The Coding Part:
Don't be afraid when you here the word code, it's one small line which you only need to midify a bit. The code is in the code box below:
You will of course need to edit the "link to picture.png" bit to the link of your image. The code must be placed withing the <body> and </body> tags of your code.Code:<link rel=?apple-touch-icon? href=?link to picture.png? />
Thats all there is folks! Enjoy your custom and nice looking icons!
